Thursday January 31 Stretch 20 minutes / Run 40 minutes (3.37 miles)
Hardest run I’ve had since starting to run this month. I’m sure it was because of the FOUR SLICES OF PIZZA, HUGE SALAD WITH SALAMI & DRESSING, AND ONE AND A HALF BROWNIES I had for dinner. Well… I learned my lesson. Just a moment for shame, then move on. It’s the first pig out since the holidays and I was on the treadmill first thing this morning.
Wednesday January 30 Stretch 30 minutes
Feels good to have a day off from running. Good stretch and easy morning. Took advantage of the extra time to go grocery shopping for good food for work.
Tuesday January 29 Stretch 20 minutes / Run 48 minutes (4.17 miles)
Monday January 28 Stretch 17 minutes / Run 40 minutes (3.5 miles)
It snowed today. Woke up to a winter wonderland and lazily chose not to go into work. Joined Kenmore Fitness on a monthly basis so that I can have access to a gym when I’m not downtown too. Felt good to run. This run did seem easier after the four and five mile runs I’ve had recently. Exciting to feel progress!
Sunday January 27 Stretch 30 minutes / Run 11 minutes (1.3 miles) / Walk 110 minutes (2.84 miles)
Ran outdoors today. With Lila. That’s a bit of a challenge and it was pretty cold. I ran what I thought was two miles but when I got home I realized it had only been 11 minutes and MapQuest told me it was just 1.3 miles. Oh well, not perfect. Then I took Lila and Cassie for a long walk. Between Cassie’s slow pace and Lila’s constant stop and sniff and go and stop and sniff and go, it took us almost two hours to cover less then three miles. I got home cold and tired. But I feel good. Active!

Friday January 25 Stretch 30 minutes / Run 60 minutes (4.84 miles)
Slower than Wednesday’s run but nonetheless, I started off my day with a run, a long stretch, and a few minutes in the steam room. Feels great! I am proud of me today.
Thursday January 24 Stretch 31 minutes
Wednesday January 23 Stretch 31 minutes / Run 60 minutes (5.22 miles)
Oh my God I feel so good. I ran over 5 miles today!!!
Tuesday January 22 Stretch 15 minutes / Run 40 minutes (3.4 miles)
My run felt good. I’m pushing myself a bit but not too much. Feels fabulous really.
Monday January 21 Stretch 21 minutes / Run 40 minutes (3.4 miles)
Hard to get out of bed and got to the gym late which means I got to work late. After my run, sweating, red-faced, out of breath, tight calves, achy back and all I could think was “Wow this feels good!”
Saturday January 19 Stretch 8 minutes / Run 48 minutes (4 miles)
Tough run - partly because I was determined to get it done in 48 minutes. I could’ve used a little more time maybe but hey! I ran 4 miles today!
Friday January 18 Stretch 26 minutes / Run 30 minutes (2.43 miles)
Feels good. I’m right on track with the first week of running training. (The program I’m following is from Cool Running, the “Beginner 5K Program.”) Tomorrow is the big run of the week - 4 miles. Yikes!
Thursday January 17 Stretch 30 minutes
First day off from running on my training schedule. I need the break too. My thighs are t-i-g-h-t! Did a long stretch and am enjoying the rest today.
Wednesday January 16 Stretch 10 minutes / Run 40 minutes (3.27 miles)
Sort of a hard run today. Partly because it’s my third day in a row of running after months of slacking. And partly because I had two abundent glasses of Lola white wine last night. It’s good that Dave doesn’t drink and we don’t keep alcohol at his house. If we did, it would just be too easy to have a glass every night. Not drinking makes for much easier runs.
Tuesday January 15 Stretch 10 minutes / Run 40 minutes (3.33 miles)
I’m proud of today’s run. Not only because it felt good but also because it was a challenge to work into my schedule but I didn’t get squishy about my boundaries nor my priorities. I went. Now I’m back at work, alert, relaxed, happy, proud and 100% available to others.
Monday January 14 Stretch 20 minutes / Run 40 minutes (3.25 miles)
What a great run. My first run in months. I feel so good, clean, alive. A little tight in the thighs but even that feels good.
Sunday January 13 Walk 90 minutes (3 miles)
Sunny and in the 50s. Crisp winter day. After breakfast with Valria, Leslie & Sam I walked Lila along the Burke Gilman and Celsi & Cassie joined me. I am tired but happy and relaxed.
Saturday January 12 Walk 60 minutes (2.4 miles)
Took Lila for a nice walk along the Burke Gilman. We walked from Dave’s house to the golf course and back. Doggie loved it and I feel great. The sun is breaking through and it’s a nice January day. I feel alive
.
Friday January 11 Walk 35 minutes (2.08 miles)
Instead of the gym today I went for a nice walk from my office to Pioneer Square where I checked out a few art exhibits and had lunch with friends. Cold, sunny, crisp walk. Lovely!
Thursday January 10 Stretch 20 minutes / Run 30 minutes (2.28 miles)
First day back running in a long time. Felt great! On my iPod I was listening to Bob Greene’s “Get with the Program!” and just about the time I was thinking about how good it felt to be moving my body, he said working out is a gift we give ourselves.
